Well construction
MGF supplies the drilling system for well drilling: the drive and, together with Zipp Industries, the matching tools.

Where drilling takes place
Well drilling
For drinking, service and construction water, from a few metres to greater depths depending on the groundwater level. Drilling is often cased, and in many methods the cuttings are removed by flushing.
Groundwater monitoring wells
Small in diameter but often numerous, and a field that is growing measurably.
Why it is demanding
- It doesn't work without media feed. Flush-assisted methods need a continuous channel all the way to the drill bit.
- It goes deep and through changing layers. What is needed is slow, powerful rotation rather than speed.
- Well construction is serial work. Downtime for maintenance directly costs drilling days here.
How and why an MGF drill motor is used here
Hollow shaft for flushing
The five H models have a continuous channel in the drive shaft through which water, air or concrete can be fed to the drill bit. For flush-assisted drilling, this is not an option but a requirement.
Slow and powerful
The H models turn at 37 to 56 revolutions per minute, considerably slower than the solid-shaft range. For deep, cased boreholes, that is exactly the right characteristic.
Every size class
From the BG 260 at 40 kilograms for small monitoring wells to the BG 5120 H with 51,200 Nm for large-diameter drilling. There is no well size without a matching model.
Less downtime in continuous use
Well construction is serial work. A drive without a gearbox needs less maintenance, and that means days spent drilling instead of wrenching.
Which model for well construction
| Task | Torque | MGF models |
|---|---|---|
| Groundwater monitoring wells | 2,560 – 10,800 Nm | BG 260 · BG 480 · BG 800 · BG 1080 |
| Wells of medium depth | 17,800 – 26,800 Nm | BG 1780 · BG 1920 · BG 2680 |
| Flush-assisted drilling with media feed | 15,360 – 30,700 Nm | BG 1540 H · BG 2560 H · BG 3070 H |
| Deep wells, large diameters | 42,600 – 51,200 Nm | BG 4260 H · BG 5120 H |
| Large-diameter drilling in continuous operation | 53,000 – 76,000 Nm | BG 5300 · BG 7600 |
Drive and tools from one source
Besides the drive, well drilling needs hollow-stem augers, casings, ring bits and, for flush-assisted methods, a flushing head.

Frequently asked questions
No. We supply the hydraulic drill motor and, together with Zipp Industries, the drilling tools for it: augers, casings, crowns, flushing heads. The carrier machine comes from you.
Hollow shaft (in German: Hohlwelle). These models have a continuous channel in the drive shaft through which water, air or concrete can be fed to the drill bit.
The H series, because it comes with media feed built in. The size depends on diameter, depth and soil.
